Highlights of the curriculum
- The Research Centre and PG department of Physics is well known for teaching as well as research in the region.
- The department offers B.Sc. and M.Sc., M.Phil. in physics and Ph.D. programme in condensed matter physics, Crystallography and thin film Physics and Spectroscopy.
- The department has been awarded and funded to the tune of Rs. 21 lakhs through the FIST programme of DST, utilizing which various laboratory instruments and research facilities have been established including a computer laboratory.
- Value added courses and skill based courses are offered for UG and PG students to enhance employment opportunity.
- For PG the research project is quintessential part of the course which is not only integral in passing the course but also develops the student capability to work independently and think critically.

- Lab techniques in handling instruments
- Practical training in household electrical wiring and handling electrical appliances
- Programming skills are part of the curriculum
- Course in Microprocessor enables software programming
- Course in energy harvesting introduces the student to utilize various renewable energy resources.

Curriculum is designed to enable the students to be employed in industries, technical institutions, research centers and information technology institutes viz., ISRO,BARC,VSSC,SAC,SHAR,MCF.

Spacious, well equipped, versatile laboratories separately for UG, PG and ancillary students.
Library:
The department has a lending library with around 2000 books which are distributed to UG and PG students.

The class rooms are spacious providing ambient atmosphere for teaching and learning.
