The Madura College Alumni Association (erstwhile Madura College Old Boys’ Association up to 2010-11, then Old Students Association up to 2014-15) is registered body under ‘The Societies Registration Act, 1860’ by Office of the District Registrar, Madurai-1. The registration number is 2/1945. The registered association is functioning for the last 71 years and rendering yeomen services to the college administration and every alumnus of the great esteemed institution exists beyond 125 years academic excellence in higher education in Tamilnadu.

The first executive meeting of the association was held on 02-01-1945 with 11 members. The first officer bearers of the association were Sri.V.Subbu Sesha Iyer, President and Dr.N.Surya Narayanan, Secretary. During the year of establishment, there were 10 meetings were organized to formalize the activities of the Association. The association had raised Rs.5000/- by issuing debentures to the members at Rs.25/- per debentures @ interest rate of 4.5%, which was redeemed by adopting ‘casting lots’ for the redemption of debentures. The amounts collected through debentures were donated to Madura College Board for construction of building. The membership fee was Rs.10/- payable in two installments. Pass out students of the college should pay Rs.5/- to the association to get alumni membership. During the year 1946, entire debentures were redeemed in lots of 10 debentures.

The 65th anniversary of the Madura College Old Boys Association was celebrated on the Saturday, October 17, 1954, Mr.S.Thiruvengadam, Secretary of the College Board, Mr.P.K.Mookiah Theval MLA, was the chief guest presented a cheque for Rs.1000 given by the association for instituting a price in the name of Mr.K.S.Venkatesan, a former Principal of the college and another cheque for Rs.3000 by the association as first installment for construction of a lunch hall for day scholars. Dr.M.S.Yegnanarayanan, President of the College Board, accepted the cheques. Mr.K.S.Venkateshwaran Joint Secretary, proposed vote of thanks.

Objectives of the Association

  •  To promote camaraderie among past students of the Madura College.
  •  To continue to have contacts with the students leaving the Madura College after completion of their educational course.
  •  To motivate the old students to think about their college and participate in its in development.
  •  To conduct Seminars and Conferences, on any matters of general importance.
  •  To exchange information and experience among former students of the Madura College.
  •  To promote interaction among past students of the Madura College.
  •  To raise funds for the association to extend financial assistance to the college on its own or by establishing a separate Trust for that purpose.

The alumni members give valuable suggestions for improvement of the working of the College in general, besides assisting in organizing seminars and talks, placements and organizing various other extra and co-curricular activities for the benefit of teachers and students

Every year the Madura College Alumni Association gives a file folder with pen to the outgoing students on the date of convocation. The Association celebrates Alumni day every year. On that day, the association organizes sports to alumni, AGM and other discussions pertaining to the development of the college.


Activities and support from the Alumni Association

The college has an efficient Alumni Association wherein reputed scientists, freedom fighters and industrialists are members. The association conducts periodical meetings in the college premises and interacts with the college authority regarding academic and infrastructural development of the college.

2012-13

2013-14
A mega alumni meet was organized in the college inviting about 10 veteran alumnus. Mr. Lakshmi Kanthan Barathy I.A.S. and Freedom fighter, Mr. Manickam I.P.S., Mr. Amarnath, Industrialist, Mr. S. Seetharaman, Industrialist and Mr. S. Natanagopal, Auditor are some among them. Alumnus have agreed to contribute directly and indirectly to the development in various areas.

2014-15
A mega alumni meet was organized in the college on 29th March 2015 inviting several veteran alumnus. Mr. Lakshmi Kanthan Barathy I.A.S. Mr. K. A. Subramanian I.A.S.(Retd), Mr. T.A. Sankaran, Marine Chief Engineer(Retd.), Mr. Vinayaka Rao Amarnath, Director, KVM Academy, Mr. M.S. Sundararajan, Suptd., of Police CBI(Rtd), Chennai, Mr. T. Chockalingam, G.M.(Finance) BHEL, Trichy are some of the invitees and they took part in the deliberations about the development of college on various aspects.
